The State of Instructor-Led Training 2026 survey is live. Here's what we're building, why it matters, and how to have your say.

If you've ever tried to benchmark your instructor-led training business against the market, you'll know the problem. The data either doesn't exist, covers L&D broadly rather than ILT specifically, or was written with corporate learning teams in mind rather than independent training providers.

Pricing benchmarks. Delivery format trends. How providers are actually using technology. What buyer demand looks like right now. There's almost nothing out there that answers these questions with real data.

That's what we're building. And we're inviting you to have your say on ILT by taking the survey.

The State of Instructor-Led Training 2026 is the first global benchmark report dedicated to the ILT provider market.

When we say ILT, we mean instructor-led training in any format - face-to-face in a classroom, live-online through video conferencing, or blended combinations of the two, with self-paced elearning.

Produced by Arlo training management system in partnership with The Training Marketplace, it brings together survey data from training providers across North America, the UK, APAC, and beyond. With buyer behaviour insights drawn directly from The Training Marketplace platform. The report is supported by founding partners and an advisory panel of ILT industry experts including Donald H. Taylor, Tammy Banks, Karl Kapp and more! Our advisory panel brings a range of expertise across industries, regions, and training technologies in the ILT space. They're guiding the survey, reviewing the findings, and contributing directly to the final report — giving the data real-world context from people who work in ILT every day.

The report publishes in Novermber. But first, we need your input.

What the report will cover

The findings will give ILT providers a clear picture of where the market stands in 2026 and where it's heading.

That includes:

  • Market confidence and commercial outlook for training providers
  • Delivery format trends across in-person, virtual, and blended ILT
  • Technology and AI adoption across the sector
  • Pricing and business model benchmarks
  • Buyer behaviour data from The Training Marketplace

This isn't a general L&D trends piece. It's built for the businesses that design, deliver, and grow instructor-led training programs. And it will only be as useful as the data behind it - which is where you come in.

If you run, manage, or deliver instructor-led training, whether face-to-face, virtual, or blended, we want your input. Independent training providers,  corporate training teams, associations and freelance trainers all welcome.

What you get

Everyone who completes the survey gets early access to the full report before public release, direct to their inbox ahead of the November launch. The survey takes less 10 minutes.

The more providers who respond, the stronger the data. Share this with anyone in your network who delivers instructor-led training - the wider we can spread this, the more useful the report will be for the whole industry.
