AI Trends In Training: What’s Happening in 2025?

At Arlo we’re keeping tabs on how AI is shaping the training industry, with a particular focus on the areas that matter most to our customers: the design, delivery, and commercialization of instructor-led training programs.

We shared some of our initial thoughts on the topic back in 2024. But the pace of change since then has been significant, and those same core areas – design, delivery, and commercialization are evolving fast.

That’s why we’re revisiting the conversation in 2025, with fresh insights on how AI is influencing the way training providers operate and grow

Let’s take a look 👇

1. Generative AI for Content Creation and Adaptation

This is one of the fastest-moving areas. What started with simple use cases, such as instructional designers and facilitators using tools like ChatGPT for title suggestions or light editing of content has quickly expanded.

Generative AI tools are now being used to produce complete course modules, tailor content for different learner groups and support large-scale localization.

This growth is not just anecdotal. One of the best sources for keeping tabs on what’s happening with AI in the training and learning & development industries is the annual L&D Global Sentiment Survey carried out by Donald H. Taylor.

The 2025 edition found the following key pieces of information:

  • Artificial intelligence was ranked the highest priority across all 16 surveyed countries in every professional segment, including workplace L&D teams, vendors, consultants, and education providers.
  • AI adoption is now seen as more than a trend. The report notes that over 80% of L&D professionals were using AI tools by late 2024, showing its rapid shift from experimentation to everyday practice across the industry.

2. Real-Time Adaptive Learning and Personalization

AI is making it possible for training professionals to shift away from static, one-size-fits-all training content.

Training providers can use AI to quickly adapt content to different learner preferences, personalize content to groups, and track progress more effectively.

For example, elearning authoring tools that are integrating AI features are able to convert training materials in various formats such as documents, PDFs and PowerPoints into interactive elearning modules.

For personalization AI workflows, such as those found in Arlo’s elearning course creation tool you can create an elearning module based on a series of prompts.

You’ll be asked to ‘Describe Your Course’, where you can input a description, asking ‘How familiar your audience is with the topic of your course, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.

And finally, ‘If you had to choose one phrase to categorize your audience, what would it be? For example, if you were creating a First Aid Training Course for Beginners your options would be ‘Individuals interested in learning basic first aid’, ‘People with no prior first aid training’, you can of course choose to skip this step, or type your own description of the audience.

You can see this workflow in action in the video below, where our Product Marketing Lead Ben Mather walks you through how to create an elearning course inside of Arlo

3. AI-Driven Analytics and Predictive Insights

AI analytics can offer providers real-time feedback on the effectiveness of a program.

This can be as simple as tracking course completion rates, but also more granular activities such as which learners have started a particular module, or where they are up to within a particular module.

To monitoring more advanced metrics such as registration rates, course revenue, and conversion trends over time. These measures are particularly important for commercial training providers who sell training to clients.

Using this data training organizations can use AI to create more in-depth forecasting models, future trends in course demand, and commercial performance.

AI Will Continue to Shape the Training Industry

As we’ve seen across content creation, personalized learning, and analytics, AI is rapidly moving from experimentation to everyday application in the training industry. It’s not replacing instructors or eliminating the human elements, it’s expanding what’s possible.

For commercial training providers in particular, the opportunity lies in using AI to scale content, tailor experiences to learners, and make smarter decisions with better data.

At Arlo, we’re focused on supporting this evolution. By building AI into our course creation, delivery and training management tools, we’re helping our customers respond to a shifting market, and unlock new ways to grow. Instructor-led training isn’t going away, it’s getting sharper, more dynamic, and more data-informed. And we believe AI will continue to play a central role in that transformation.
