ABCST is delivering more construction safety training with Arlo

All Borough Construction Safety Training (ABCST) provides safety training to construction industry personnel. From New York City Department of Buildings approved courses to OSHA training, ABCST educates workers about Federal and State safety regulations. Their courses provide learners with the certifications and licenses required to work on major projects in the greater New York City area.

But for ABCST, it’s more than just ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Every day on site presents new challenges and hazards such as falls, equipment-related injuries, and exposure to harmful substances. Prior to 2019, registrations for these courses were taken via phone and email, and were only able to be taken during office hours – cut-off time was 5pm. Confirmation emails, invoices and course instructions were also sent manually which slowed down the registration process and limited the number of courses they could manage at any one time. The workload became unsustainable for the staff at ABCST and they could see how much it was hindering their ability to grow.

A trusted source recommended the Arlo training management system, and after some thorough research into the software, ABCST could see that Arlo offered all of the services they were looking for to reduce tedious, manual tasks and be able to offer more courses.

Reducing administration with Arlo

The implementation of Arlo simplified the process for everyone involved at ABCST, from admins to instructors, with one of the biggest pay-offs coming from Arlo’s course templates.

Course templates simplify the process of creating and publishing new courses. Pre-set templates contain all of the key course information, with only the need to update ever-changing information such as course dates, venues or locations. With Arlo’s WordPress integration, courses are then published to the website with a click of the button, which Jillian says is “way easier than going through the backend of our website and adding courses manually”.

 

“Arlo has been transformative for our business. Each of our courses operate on a recurring basis so course templates consistently save our staff time and limit the potential for mistakes.” Says Jillian.

And now learners can register for a course online too – 24/7 with no 5pm cut-off time. The result of this, Jillian says, is that ABCST saw their course numbers increase “substantially”.

In addition to Arlo’s course templates, ABCST has significantly reduced administration with other key features such as automated communications for invoicing, course confirmation and instructions. This has enabled them to handle the increased number of registrations, and has freed them up to focus on delivering a larger number of courses.

 

“Arlo has enabled us to offer more courses, more frequently, than we ever could without it. The previously unmanageable workload for our administrative team has now been greatly reduced thanks to Arlo” says Jillian.

And with an increased number of courses and registrations, Arlo’s reporting and analytics are proving valuable in terms of understanding what’s working, and what’s not. Jillian and the team have a clearer picture of course performance, key drivers of success, and enable them to make decisions on what courses to do more of and how to improve their offers. Ultimately, it helps inform how they can further grow the business – and offer more life-saving safety training courses to workers in the construction industry.
